(Karl Chun, The World of the Deep-sea)

First Edition 1902
Second Edition 191?
Third Edition 191?

The account of the 1898-99 German deep-sea expedition on board the steamer Valdivia by the expedition leader (at the time it was customary to translate the given names of authors to their Hungarian equivalent), translated and re-worked by Dr. Zoltán Szilády. There have been at least three separate editions, the first appearing in the Roman numeral and Picture cover bindings, with the half-titles containing the roman numeral series volume numbers, and the publisher mark carrying the "Cs. és kir." royal purveyors title, and uniquely a Lampel printer's mark dated 1902 on the reverse of the title page. The second edition, known in the full cloth Picture cover and Classic I scaled bindings, appears to be of the same print run with the original Lampel printer's mark and "Cs. és Kir." titles with only the half-title changed. The Classic I. scaled is known both in Franklin and Leszik binders' versions, with the latter having different endpapers. Like #1 and #6 there is a Classic I. scaled version (and presumably a corresponding full cloth Picture cover) that appears to be an entirely new print run with different half title and title pages (though the rest of the interior appears to be the same). This third edition is also known in the half cloth Picture cover and plain Classic I binding versions (the last around 1926), apparently a new release with unchanged contents after the War. Other than the title and half title, the interior of all versions appear to be identical,on 279 pages with 73 illustrations dispersed among the text and 15 plates (including one map).
