LÓCZY, Lajos
A mennyei birodalom története

(The History of the Heavenly Empire)

First Edition 1902
Second Edition 191?

Lóczy's popular treatise on the history, manners and customs of China. In 1877-80 Lóczy accompanied Count Béla Széchenyi on his Asian travels, and as a result produced several scientific monographs on the geography, geology and geomorphology of Inner Asia. This book was his first one intended for a general audience, coinciding with the launch of the Library of the Hungarian Geographical Society series. This is a rare early title of the series, as far as we know the picture cover binding only appeared in first edition (with the "Cs. és Kir." title on spine and publisher's mark). It can only be assumed that the Classic I. scaled binding version is a second edition with no roman series number on half title made sometime soon after 1911, it appears that no further releases were made.
