SAVOYAI, Lajos Amádé, Abruzzói Herceg
A Ruvenzori

(Luigi Amadeo di Savoya, The Duke of Abruzzo, The Ruwenzori)

First Edition 1922
Second Edition 192?

The first title to appear after the long suspension due to the War. It is the account of the 1906 expedition which succeeded in attaining the highest peaks of the Ruwenzori range, translated from the Italian by Dr. Cholnoky Jenöné, the wife of the series editor. (As customary at the time, the name of the author was translated to the Hungarian equivalent, but interestingly in a slightly different form than in #4). The first edition appeared apparently simultaneously in the Picture cover and Classic I. versions, there is no discernible difference on the interior. Sometime in the late nineteen twenties a second edition was produced, known in Oval logo, Classic II and Cassic III variants. There is a substantial difference between the first and second editions. In the first, 125 illustrations are dispersed within the text (plus 15 plates), while the second edition has 139 photo illustrations on separate photo pages. The first edition also lacks the frontspiece portrait of the author.
